<span lang="EN-CA">Does anyone
read blogs anymore lol? It seems fitting to make at least one last blog post on
here though, considering this blog is where my “Team Online career” all
started. Actually, I’m planning on rolling out at least a couple of more blog
posts now that I’ll have some more time on my hands</span><span lang="EN-CA" style="font-family: Wingdings;">J</span><span lang="EN-CA">. After 7 years of playing poker
professionally, I’ve decided that it’s time to hang up my skates! Retirement is
a pretty loose term, as you’ll still see me at the tables but I’ll explain what
I mean when I say “retirement” and why I’m choosing to go down that path in the
rest of the blog post (or more like essay). Before I get into everything
though, I really want to thank everyone that showed me support over the years…it’s
been a fun ride together and would have been a far lesser experience without
all of you!</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">

<div class="MsoNormal">
<b><u><span lang="EN-CA">Team Online Departure<o:p></o:p></span></u></b></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="EN-CA">After 6
years of being a part of PokerStars Team Online, I will no longer be with the
team in 2017. There wasn’t much drama behind my departure (I didn’t decide to
quit the team for whatever reason nor did I do anything outlandish to get cut)
as my contract simply wasn’t picked up for another year, a fate that I was not
alone in sharing. I obviously know why my contract wasn’t renewed specifically
and have a pretty good sense of what’s going on with the team but I’m not
exactly sure what I can and can’t talk about…so I’ll just leave it at that. I’m
really thankful for the opportunity of being a part of Team Online-very few
people get the chance to be on the team and I’m grateful for all of the awesome
memories that I’ve had over the years as a member. By far the best part of
being on the team was forming relationships with a lot of great people,
colleagues and followers alike. Going forward, I’m not really concerned about
losing touch with a lot of the people that I’ve met because many connections
have become deeply rooted over the years.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="EN-CA">Had I been
offered my contract again, I almost definitely would have gladly accepted. It’s
a pretty sweet gig to be compensated for playing poker…especially if you’re
playing professionally anyways! Honestly though, when I found out that I would
be getting dropped from the team I had a lot of mixed feelings…of course I was
disappointed but there was also quite a sense of relief and excitement about my
future. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="EN-CA">Over the
last few years, I’ve continued to enjoy playing poker but on a much lower level
than the first few years of my career. When I first started playing full time
around 2010, I remember waking up every morning feeling incredibly happy and
excited to log-on and put in a big grind for the day. Time flew by when I was
playing and it terms of winning money and moving up stakes, it felt like the
sky was the limit. Obviously, between when I first started playing and now
there have been a lot of changes to the online poker world and at least the big
ones have been almost exclusively negative. I’m not just talking about what the
sites have done or haven’t done either…Black Friday, games getting tougher and
smaller, different countries being segregated and so many other factors have
all contributed to my diminishing enthusiasm of poker over the years. Also,
regardless of how I feel about the current poker landscape, I’ve realized that
being on the computer for countless hours every day is also something that I
want to try to dial way back.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="EN-CA">There is
certainly a fairly high opportunity cost of playing poker for a living
financially speaking. There are a lot of ways that one could be earning money
or building wealth for oneself and for me, I believe it has made sense to
continue playing poker over the years but I’ve felt compelled to keep playing
largely because of the incentives of the Team Online contract. I’ve
experimented with many different game types over the past few years to test
different ways of earning money through poker and also keep my interest in the
game high. From PLO to tournaments to streaming on twitch…I’ve ventured down a
lot of different paths and I really did enjoy dabbling in a lot of these
formats, especially MTTs and twitch. These avenues were not exactly raking in
the dough for me, however, and at the end of the day nothing seems to compare
(monetarily speaking for me personally) to my bread and butter game: full-ring
cash games. Unfortunately, there’s no more SNE anymore and even if there was,
the thought of putting in a grind that large to obtain the status is not
something that really interests me at this point. Of course you can make money
in cash games without SNE but I think all avenues to success will require a ton
of hours being put in on and off of the tables just the same. Long story short,
without the contract I no longer feel like poker is my hands-down #1 option and
I think it’s now worth it for me to invest my time and efforts in other areas and
not exclusively in poker.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<b><u><span lang="EN-CA">The Future<o:p></o:p></span></u></b></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="EN-CA">So, what’s
next for me? Well, it’s always been my goal to use poker as a tool to generate
capital to invest in assets that can build wealth over time. I’ve never
envisioned playing poker professionally for my whole life and I’ve always knew
that there would be an end point-I just wasn’t sure exactly when that’d be. Taking
a step back from poker these last few months has kind of allowed me to realize
that I actually already have enough equity to start accomplishing my ultimate
goal...sometimes it pays to be a nit ;). As for what I want to invest in-I
really like real estate and want to buy some rental properties so I’m currently
in the process of doing just that. There’s a lot of time and effort that needs
to be put into real estate investing so as of right now, my time in 2017 will
likely be divided between the investing and still some poker to generate a bit
of income while I try to not go completely broke.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="EN-CA">As for what
poker I plan on playing, I’ll likely be taking a very, very risk-averse
approach where I do some kind of bankroll build from the micros by playing a
mixture of tournaments and cash games. I’m going to do what I feel is fun for
me and doesn't put much money at risk and I’ve always enjoyed moving up through the ranks and doing various
challenges for myself.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="EN-CA">I want to
close this post by saying that I don’t want you to think that you can’t make
money in poker anymore…the cash games and tournaments that I played in last
year actually seemed quite good. I’ll still be out there on the virtual felt
grinding away plenty in 2017…my point is just that for me, it feels like it’s
the right time to put poker on the back burner and focus on other things!<o:p></o:p></span></div>

Here's a pick of the cliff notes and full details can be found at the
link but basically, there will be EPT packages up for grabs, some
freerolls and the popular Zoom Pools again (where you win 7x the money
you win from Stars pros). Perhaps most exciting, you can even change
your avatar to mine ;)<span class="text_exposed_show"> !</span><br />

<br />
By the end of 2015, I had to earn more VPPs in December than I had accumulated over the rest of the year! I worked very hard in 2015 but my time was spent spread out over a bunch of poker-related things and although my hours playing at the tables were there, a lot of my grinding was done at micro stakes for twitch purposes (and just in case you didn't know, VPPs can be hard to come by at 2nl ;)). My annual VPP target was 100,000-a number that I have exceeded many times since turning professional but last year took quite a different direction for me and I left myself with a lot of work to be done by years end.<br />
<br />
The December grind was incredibly tough and comparable to when I achieved Supernova Elite back in 2010. I actually found the grind harder this time around and especially towards the end, had to endure sleepless nights and a lot of stress. I had to make all kinds of sacrifices to achieve Supernova, including turning down VIP seats to a Canucks game and pushing back my vacation flight by two days. Even with the additional time, getting Supernova came right down to the wire on December 31st and I finished around 4:30pm and basically just shut down my computer and hopped into a cab to the airport. My girlfriend was amazing throughout the whole month and even packed my suitcase for me and laid out clothes for me to change into to wear on the plane after I finished playing on the last day. I was literally waking up, playing for a couple of hours, showering and eating for about 30 minutes and then got right back to playing over the last bit of the grind. I did not go to bed. I think that I need to write lines like they used to make you do in school to prevent this from happening again...something like "I will not do this again,I will not do this again". My gf also had to sacrifice two days of vacation and endure the stress with me so I need to make it up to her big!<br />
<br />
At the end of the day, I'm happy that I was able to achieve Supernova for the potential that it may bring in 2016, especially with the opportunity to remain with Team Online. 2015 was certainly disappointing financially for me but as I said, I made some decisions that I knew wouldn't make me a lot of money now but could pay dividends down the road one way or another. I'm feeling recharged from my vacation and eager to get to work...with that said, my plans for 2016 are outlined below and I think it's fair to say that it should be an interesting year. <br />
<br />
<u><b>2016 </b></u><br />
<br />
Looking ahead to the rest of 2016, I'm excited about trying to tackle a different format of poker other than cash games-<b>tournaments</b>. I dabble in MTTs already but mostly just during COOPs and other special tournament series but for the rest of this year, I'd like to shift my focus away from cash games and primarily towards tournaments.<br />
<br />
There are plenty of reasons for the move from cash games to MTTs. First, I view the transition as an interesting challenge and something new to try and succeed in. I've played cash games almost exclusively now for many years and in terms of stimulating my interest I think that MTTs will be much more exciting for me to play simply because they're something new and different. Second, I really want to put a lot of time into twitch this year and I think that MTTs lend themselves to be more interesting to watch for people than cash games. With tournaments, the action is always building and the deeper you get in a tournament the more exciting it becomes for everyone involved. On the other hand, there really isn't a beginning-middle-end when you're playing cash games and while there are some cool challenges that can be done in this area, I think that MTTs seem to have an easier time retaining interest. Finally, with the VIP reward changes now in place, there is a lot of incentive for me to move away from my traditional mass-tabling, high volume approach to cash games. Even without the changes, the current cash game environment seems to be pushing players towards playing for quality rather than quantity anyways. I will remain playing some cash games at a lower volume but with reduced tables, I'd assume my hourly rate would be a lot lower-to the point where experimenting with different poker formats likely makes some sense to see if I could increase it.<br />
<br />
I've thought quite a lot about what I think is the best plan for me in terms of playing MTTs and also streaming them. There's a lot of things to consider, such as my starting bankroll, how many tournaments that I want to play per day, how best to spend my FPPs, what satellites might be good to play and then there's my streaming schedule to make as well.<br />
<br />
When it comes to my MTT bankroll, I could really start as low or as high (within reason) as I wanted to. I have the funds to be bankrolled for the Sunday Majors but I'm not naive enough to think that's the best idea...just because you have the bankroll for certain stakes doesn't mean you're going to be a winning player in those games. On the other hand, I don't think that I want to start at the smallest micro stakes games either due to the time it could take to grow a meaningful bankroll. As a result, I think that I'm leaning towards starting on the more conservative side, with a bankroll around $1,500, which will allow me to play tournaments anywhere from $1-$15 as I'm planning on sticking to a 100 buy-in bankroll management system. Nothing's really set in stone and we'll see how steep the learning curve is for me to pick up MTTs-I did primarily build my bankroll from MTTs back in the day but I have a feeling that people may play a little differently than back then ;)<br />
<br />
As for twitch, my main aim is just going to be for consistency-sticking to a streaming schedule that will be at the same time and day every week. I haven't made it yet (need to make my MTT schedule first) but right now I'm thinking about streaming 4 days a week, probably during the week and with additional streams for special occasions. I will probably do a mix of 3 days MTTs and 1 day cash games. For the cash game streams, I'll likely be doing my cash game challenge (or cash game ladder) like I did last year. <br />
<br />
As for my financial goals for 2016...well, I really don't think I'm in a position to make any sort of accurate prediction of how things are going to go for me. Something that I've always wanted to do since I first started playing poker is to have a bankroll that's big enough to play all of the Sunday Majors, so let's aim for around $20,000-why not?<br />
<br />
If you have any tips or advice for me when it comes to playing MTTs on anything, I'm all ears :) Stay tuned to my twitter (@frosty012) for my streaming schedule and you can watch the twitch channel here: http://www.twitch.tv/frosty_012<br />

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 36.0pt;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 36.0pt;">
If you’ve seen me playing at the
micro-stakes at PokerStars lately, it’s not because I’m busto (well, not yet
anyways!) but because I’m in the middle of doing a cash game challenge and am
streaming part of the action on twitch! Depending on how things go at the
tables, you may not see me at the micro-stakes for very long because the idea
of the challenge is to start at the smallest stakes and finish at the higher
end of the mid-stakes relatively quickly. Allow me to go into the full details
of the challenge, explain why I’m doing it, how it’s gone in the early stages
and why you might care enough to even try it for yourself. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 36.0pt;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 36.0pt;">
The rules of the challenge are
quite simple and straightforward: Starting at the lowest cash game level
offered at PokerStars, 2nl, win 4 buy-ins of the next highest level (5nl) and
move up! Once at 5nl, win 4 buy-ins of the next highest level (10nl) and move
up again. Keep repeating the process of winning 4 buy-ins of the next highest
level and moving up until reaching 1000nl. The buy-ins that have already been
won carry forward and count towards the next level. There is no moving down
levels at any point of the challenge…if you reach a certain level and then lose
1-3 buy-ins, you remain at that level until you either win the necessary
4-buyins of the next level or lose 4 buy-ins total of the current one. When you
lose 4 buy-ins of the current level, the challenge is over (initially, if you
lose 4 buy-ins at 2nl you may restart the challenge).</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 36.0pt;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><span style="mso-tab-count: 1;"> </span>I’ll give you an example of a
possible challenge scenario to help illustrate the rules if they aren’t crystal
clear: I start at 2nl and win $20 (4 buy-ins of the next level-5nl) so I move
up to 5nl. I win $20 more at 5nl, bringing my challenge total to $40 (4 buy-ins
of the next level-10nl) so I move up to 10nl. I initially lose $30 at 10nl,
bringing my challenge total down to $10 but I do not move down…I then win $52
remaining at 10nl and my total becomes $62, which is now enough to move up to 16nl.
I continue this process until I reach 1000nl and the challenge is completed!</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 36.0pt;">
So, why did I decide to create
this challenge for myself? I created the challenge for a few reasons: First, I
think that it will be something fun to stream on twitch and it should really be
an inclusive adventure for everyone. I got the idea for the challenge after
doing my “Cash Game Ladder” streams, where the goal was to go from 2nl-200nl by
moving up after winning only 1 buy-in of the next level. After doing the ladder
successfully multiple times, I decided that it could be fun and entertaining to
expand that concept and set my sights on a higher end point that could
potentially bring much more rewards financially! Second, I personally want to
use this challenge as a vehicle to play higher stakes than I’m normally
accustomed to. My regular limit is 100nl and although I’ve played mid-stakes
games in the past, I’d like to make more of an effort to include a higher
percentage of mid-stakes tables in my game selection. Third, by successfully
completing this challenge, maybe I can help motivate some other people that
followed my journey to do their own challenge or put forth a greater effort to
advance their poker career.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 36.0pt;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 36.0pt;">
If you’re like me, you don’t
exactly love risk. That might sound a bit strange coming from a poker player
but I’ve always been someone that practices strict bankroll management and good
monetary habits. As a result, my downswings are relatively small but my ceiling
is also capped by the limits that I play. I’m excited by this challenge because
although there will be a lot of variance that comes with a 4 buy-in stop-loss,
the risk that comes along with it is very small as well and the rewards are
potentially huge! Think about it, if you make it to say 100nl and then lose,
you’ve invested your time but have lost $0 in terms of money…in that respect
it’s low risk. On the other hand, if you make it to 1000nl (or whatever end point
you’d be happy with) and instead of losing the 4 buy-ins, you end up staying on
an upswing then you’ve just catapulted yourself through the limits and have now
stuck at a level where you’re likely earning way more VPPs and overall money.
It all sounds pretty good in theory at least but we’ll see if I’m still singing
the same tune after I’ve had to restart 47 times <span style="font-family: Wingdings; mso-ascii-font-family: Calibri; mso-ascii-theme-font: minor-latin; mso-char-type: symbol; mso-hansi-font-family: Calibri; mso-hansi-theme-font: minor-latin; mso-symbol-font-family: Wingdings;"><span style="mso-char-type: symbol; mso-symbol-font-family: Wingdings;">:)</span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 36.0pt;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 36.0pt;">
Speaking of restarting the
challenge, I’ve already got my feet a bit wet in it and have some early
progress reports. I ended up making it as high as 50nl before losing the 4
buy-ins at that level and had to restart so I’m currently at the bottom of the
ladder again. If I remember correctly, I was down to my last buy-in at 25nl
before making a solid comeback at that level and before that, everything below
25nl was fairly smooth sailing. I’ve learned quickly that the variance in this
challenge is certainly going to be high but I’m not that discouraged by having
to do a quick restart. It seems as though there’s going to be a lot of progress
and regress throughout this challenge so I’ll need to be mentally prepared for
it! I will be doing this challenge throughout August so once again, you can
follow the action at <a href="http://www.twitch.tv/frosty_012">http://www.twitch.tv/frosty_012</a>
and we’ll see how it goes…</div>

<br />
When
you're an online poker player, it's not often that you find yourself in
a situation that lends itself to formal attire (or pants, for that
matter). But on this day Naoya, Ike, Alex, Greg and I were dressed to
the nines - the occasion was that big.<br />
<br />
We had arrived at the
wedding of fellow Team Onliners Andre "Acoimbra" Coimbra and Katerina
"Katerina289" Malasidou in style. Each of us had journeyed from all
around the world to Sintra, Portugal, and it felt good to be reunited
for a common cause.<br />
<br />
The wedding was an amazing event and the
festivities that unfolded after this photograph was taken will remain
vivid - long term memories. However, before I get too far ahead of
myself, let me go back and explain exactly how my journey unfolded,
because it almost never happened in the first place.<br />
<br />
Three months
prior to my departure I received the official wedding invitation from
Kat and Andre. I was honoured that the engaged couple would think of me
as someone that they would like to have as a part of their special day,
but given the geographical distance between us I was initially reluctant
to go.Whenever you're travelling to another continent there are
obviously a lot of travel costs involved as well as big time
commitments. I was on the fence about going but as soon as I told my
girlfriend the news, and saw her eyes light up at the opportunity to
travel with me, I knew that I was going to Portugal. <br />
<br />
<center>
<a href="https://www.pokerstars.com/en/blog/assets_c/2015/08/Pic%202-266697.shtml"><img alt="Pic 2.jpg" class="mt-image-center" height="337" src="https://www.pokerstars.com/en/blog/assets_c/2015/08/Pic%202-thumb-450xauto-266697.jpg" style="display: block; margin: 0 auto 20px; text-align: center;" width="450" /></a></center>
<br />
My
girlfriend and I travelled around The Algarve (stayed in Lagos),
Lisbon, and Sintra over the course of our stay in Portugal. Each place
we visited was fun and interesting in its own right, but our favorite
destination was Lagos. It's hard to beat the stunning beaches and
relaxed atmosphere of The Algarve.<br />
<br />
To access some of the
world-renowned beaches that we visited, you had to walk down some
massive staircases because they were at the base of tall sandstone
cliffs. I joked that if you weren't in beach shape when you first
arrived, you would be once you got done with those stairs!<br />
<br />
<center>
<a href="https://www.pokerstars.com/en/blog/assets_c/2015/08/pic%203-266700.shtml"><img alt="pic 3.jpg" class="mt-image-center" height="400" src="https://www.pokerstars.com/en/blog/assets_c/2015/08/pic%203-thumb-autox400-266700.jpg" style="display: block; margin: 0 auto 20px; text-align: center;" width="300" /></a><i>Team Online... online</i></center>
<br />
In
Lagos we stayed in a quaint apartment complex that featured very large
rooms, a kitchen and an oasis-like pool. The apartment was in-between
the town of Lagos and the beaches, so it was ideal for us in terms of
where we wanted to spend our time. It even came with free Wi-Fi and I
was able to play the Team Online Freeroll from my iPad! I think I
bubbled...<br />
<br />
<center>
<a href="https://www.pokerstars.com/en/blog/assets_c/2015/08/pic%204-266703.shtml"><img alt="pic 4.jpg" class="mt-image-center" height="337" src="https://www.pokerstars.com/en/blog/assets_c/2015/08/pic%204-thumb-450xauto-266703.jpg" style="display: block; margin: 0 auto 20px; text-align: center;" width="450" /></a></center>
<br />
The
next stop was in the city of Lisbon for a few nights. We'd been getting
by fine with our minimal Portuguese vocabulary, but during our first
breakfast in the city something was definitely lost in translation!<br />
<br />
After
we'd had some food I went back inside to order two pieces of
watermelon. I pointed to the fruit inside the case and thought that I
had successfully explained what I wanted to our server... it wasn't
until she came out and dropped two massive watermelon displays on our
table that I realised I might have not been as clear as I thought. Bon
Appétit! <br />
<br />
<center>
<a href="https://www.pokerstars.com/en/blog/assets_c/2015/08/pic%205-266706.shtml"><img alt="pic 5.jpg" class="mt-image-center" height="253" src="https://www.pokerstars.com/en/blog/assets_c/2015/08/pic%205-thumb-450xauto-266706.jpg" style="display: block; margin: 0 auto 20px; text-align: center;" width="450" /></a></center>
<br />
One
cool experience that we had in Lisbon was tracking down a highly-rated
cocktail bar that operated as if there was still prohibition in effect.
For example, the entrance of the bar was subtle and you had to ring a
doorbell to be let inside. Once you entered, you had to walk down some
stairs and the bartenders were all dressed in old-fashioned attire and
the place had a really exclusive vibe to it. My girlfriend and I
actually met up with fellow Team Onliner DaWarsaw earlier that night and
the three of us were able to enjoy some of the more creative cocktails.
One of my drinks came covered by a glass of smoke and one that Greg
ordered had a flame underneath it and came in a paper bag!<br />
<br />
<center>
<a href="https://www.pokerstars.com/en/blog/assets_c/2015/08/Pic%206-266712.shtml"><img alt="Pic 6.jpg" class="mt-image-center" height="253" src="https://www.pokerstars.com/en/blog/assets_c/2015/08/Pic%206-thumb-450xauto-266712.jpg" style="display: block; margin: 0 auto 20px; text-align: center;" width="450" /></a><i>The happy couple</i></center>
<br />
The
last leg of our journey was to Sintra- the location of the wedding. The
day had finally arrived and my girlfriend and I had accompanied Greg to
the ceremony, where we were greeted by Andre and then reunited with
Alex and Ike, as well as their significant others. Naoya and his wife
were running late but ended up arriving just on time before the ceremony
started!<br />
<br />
The ceremony was very touching and although nobody
spoke any English I didn't feel out of place. Two things that I thought
were a really nice touch, including having a live choir for the music
and tossing flower pedals to the bride and groom as they exited the
church! It really did seem like a fairy tale.<br />
<br />
Soon after the
ceremony everyone migrated over to the reception venue (where the "Team
Online Wedding Crashers" picture was taken). It was a little tricky to
actually get to the garden for cocktails, especially for women in high
heels, as everyone had to walk down a dirt trail carved into the side of
a mountain...there were some tumbles but no serious injuries.<br />
<br />
Drinks
led to dinner and then dinner led to more drinks, dancing, and even
more food later on (including soup randomly at 11pm, apparently that's a
thing!). I tried my hand (feet?) at Greek dancing and didn't do too
well, although most people looked like they were making it up on the fly
just like me anyway.<br />
<br />
I had a lot of great conversations
throughout the night and learned a couple of new things about my
teammates. Such as Alex is apparently a rock-paper-scissors strategist,
but Ike not so much. <br />
Some people were playing a "RPS" drinking
game. Let's just say that I said goodbye to both Alex and Ike at the end
of the night but I'm pretty sure only one of them remembers! <br />
<br />
<center>
<a href="https://www.pokerstars.com/en/blog/assets_c/2015/08/Pic%207-266709.shtml"><img alt="Pic 7.jpg" class="mt-image-center" height="337" src="https://www.pokerstars.com/en/blog/assets_c/2015/08/Pic%207-thumb-450xauto-266709.jpg" style="display: block; margin: 0 auto 20px; text-align: center;" width="450" /></a></center>
<br />
After
a great experience in Portugal, I'm very thankful to Kat and Andre for
the invite and for also showing us around Lisbon. Even with only a
couple of days before their wedding, they still insisted on meeting up
with my girlfriend and I...I think that says enough about them being
truly great people and now they make one amazing couple. <br />
Hey everyone! Although it's already been made public on facebook and twitter for a few days now, I'm excited to finally be finished making my custom theme/deck and website and everything is now live at <a href="http://frosty012mods.com/" target="_blank">frosty012mods.com</a>.<br />
<br />
I've designed a custom theme and deck for functional grinding purposes and I focused on simplicity and maximum HUD space. There's an extensive list of features and details about the theme <a href="https://frosty012mods.com/?product=easy-theme" target="_blank">here</a> and the deck <a href="https://frosty012mods.com/?product=easy-deck" target="_blank">here</a> but the cliffs for each are as follows:<br />
<br />
<b>Easy Theme</b><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://frosty012mods.com/?product=easy-theme" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" target="_blank"><img alt="https://frosty012mods.com/?product=easy-theme" border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtR9-zB7L1446EnaRYoYEfjGMD_SqUHj6SjpxTkG1ZDQGpDemN5-6vxaViLy4UY4UCbuY4WDUMN5vtd29p6wK-ZnIC9kyhQQjnpMOH0NnzkyWs6nBWyMNEoIWINaMqpWZ2CZeteBNHILU/s1600/Easy+Theme.png" height="294" width="320" /></a></div>

<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
The essence of the Easy Theme is the simplistic and functional layout
design, tailored for the avid multi-tabler. With minimal clutter, text
and distractions I designed the Easy Theme to allow for maximum HUD
space and intuitive seating in order to optimize grinding.<br />
<br />
<b>Easy Deck</b> <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://frosty012mods.com/?product=easy-deck" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" target="_blank"><img alt="https://frosty012mods.com/?product=easy-deck" border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRKGfaOrckmo2lUGrdNJ0l_2cicotyy3gjoB1MledTRh4YSiPImZYOIrIWtpLUhBLpKMTZCNiRjzaIVWz6oq73eavgBy1uSVcQ8HnB-oHopqvyXLcGddzkZfRXZF_SxmxWPhM7MjTirn0/s1600/Easy+Deck.png" height="294" width="320" /><span id="goog_562819628"></span></a><span id="goog_562819629"></span></div>

<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
The “Easy” deck is designed to make grinding just that-easy. The
relatively large font that’s used for the letters and numbers on the
cards was designed to make it easier to see what matters the most across
all table dimensions (the card values!). The 4-coloured card backs are
meant to stand out in a way that makes interpreting the different suits
fast at a glance, without being too overwhelming in brightness. The suit
images below the card values are meant to be subtle and serve as a
quick reminder as to what the colours on the card backs actually
represent. The whole decks comes together in a simplistic way that is
appealing to the eye but most importantly, ultra functional for online
grinding at PokerStars. <br />
<br />
Thanks to everyone for all of the interest in the theme and purchases made already. Let me know if you have any comments or questions, thanks!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01507668064586972506noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7983467790384289360.post-530531621378291242015-04-10T10:26:00.001-07:002015-04-10T10:26:55.661-07:00Top 5 tips for moving up the Micro Millions leader board<div class="entry-title">

I stuck to my own advice last series and had a
great start over the first 3 days but unfortunately, it was brick city
on day 4 and 5 so I decided to scale things back and end my leader board
run :)<br />

</div>
The MicroMillions series is always a lot of
fun...100 events, all different formats of poker, massive fields and
huge prize pools-what's not to get excited about? Oh yeah, and then
there's the tournament leader board where the winner of the series
scores 6 months' worth of Sunday Million tickets! Given that the buy-ins
for the tournaments in the MicroMillions are just what the name implies
(micro) and the half a year supply of $215 tickets is just the
opposite, there's a lot of incentive to try and finish at the top of the
leader board, and there is an equal opportunity to do so even for the
smallest grinders out there.<br />
The MicroMillions series can be
compatible with a wide range of goals that one may have-anywhere from
playing a couple of big guaranteed weekend events to playing every event
on the bleeping schedule, *cough* Acoimbra. This article is intended
for the latter, for those that see the MicroMillions as a 100 Event, fun
grind and embrace the challenge of winning the overall leader board.
I'm not saying that you need to play all of the events to win the leader
board but, of course, the more events that you play, the more
opportunities that you will have to accumulate precious leaderboard
points.<br />
There are a lot of events to be played on each day of the
series, and I would recommend coming up with a strategy from Day 1 as to
how you plan to achieve your goals. Here are my top 5 tips to succeed
at playing enough events to climb that leader board to the top!<br />
<br />
<b> 1. Front-load your schedule </b><br />
You
only have so much time and energy. The 100 event schedule can seem
daunting if you think about pacing yourself to play all of the events
and you may become quickly overwhelmed, start missing more events than
you intended to miss and become mentally and physically exhausted
halfway through the series!<br />
What I would recommend doing is
front-loading your schedule, meaning that on the early days of the
series, play as many events as you can depending on your leader board
goals. At the start of the series, you're fully rested and motivated and
won't be in any better position to play a maximum number of events. By
front-loading your schedule, it becomes easier to take it day by day and
direct your focus towards the events of a single day, rather than
getting caught up with pacing yourself across the entire series. If the
first few days go well, it will be easier to stay motivated and keep
your foot on the gas pedal knowing you're right in the thick of the
leader board race. If the next few days go poorly and your chances of
that high leader board finish are no longer realistic, you can readjust
your schedule at that point. For example, maybe you change your goals
from a top 10 finish to a top 100 finish and dial back the number of
events that you play over the remainder of the series in exchange for
more sleep. You'll have a chance to get well rested again and who knows,
maybe you'll end up with a couple of great finishes the following and
can dive back into the grind at full speed again to close out the
series!<br />
<br />
<b>2. Take advantage of late registration</b><br />
You
can typically late register for any event for 2 hours after it starts
(with some exceptions being for rebuy and turbo tournaments, in which
case late registration will be open for a shorter amount of time). Even
if you late register 2 hours into an event, you typically start with a
20bb stack and have plenty of opportunity to succeed. Sure, it would be
nice to play every event right from the start but it's just not going to
be realistic if you want to play a lot of events. Use the late
registration to nap, get groceries, grab a coffee, work out, get some
fresh air and just make the leader board challenge all around more
manageable for yourself.<br />
<br />
<b>3. Carve out a sleeping block for yourself each day</b><br />
There
are MicroMillions events happening around the clock and within a few
hours of each other. What that generally means for you, the leader board
grinder, is that sleep will be a rare commodity if you plan on doing
well! The physical part of the grind is indeed real and it can be very
easy to sleep through events here and there or slip away from playing
your A-game when under fatigue. Fortunately, apart from taking advantage
of late registration and napping when you can, there is usually an
opportunity at the end of each day to carve out a nice sleeping block
for yourself. The time between the last event of the day and the first
event of the following day is usually about 4 hours apart (6 with late
registration) and if you're lucky, the last event may even be a turbo!
That last event is certainly one that I don't mind busting out of early
because I know it will give me an opportunity to rest up for the next
day :)<br />
<br />
<b>4. Calculate the leader board pay jumps</b><br />
It's important to know how the leader board scoring works and even how
to calculate when next "point jump" will be in a given tournament. You
probably know that you get the minimum amount of points for cashing in
an event but are you aware of when you'll get score the next 5? Think
about it, you probably change the way you play and approach different
spots around the money bubble and in the MicroMillions series, you're
likely more stoked about cashing for the points than the money depending
on your goals. In that sense, each tournament actually has numerous
bubble spots where you'll have an opportunity to grab additional
leaderboard points the further you go. However, I'm not saying that you
need to nit it up and tailor your game around the point jumps. It will
very likely be more beneficial to just play for the win and to try to
build up a big stack to make a deep run but in certain situations (in
close, short-stacked spots for example), it may be important to
recognize how the leader board points are distributed. The point
distribution is shown on the <a href="https://www.pokerstars.com/poker/tournaments/micro-millions/player-of-the-series/" target="_blank">leader board page</a> and all calculations require only simple math, by the way.<br />
<br />
<b>5. Focus on your own leader board run and not the competition</b><br />
Personally,
I like to have a general ballpark guess as to how many leader board
points that I need to average on each day to finish in X place by the
end of the series. It's nice to know what amount of points should put me
in contention (based on past leader board results, which can be viewed
on the <a href="https://www.pokerstars.com/poker/tournaments/micro-millions/" target="_blank">Micro Millions page at Pokerstars.com</a>)
but aside from that, I don't dwell on this number or what's happening
on the leader board day to day. Results are going to be very
streaky...you could go an entire day without any cashes and then rattle
off a few deep runs the next. Because of the nature of poker, I'd
recommend only focusing on the things that you can control (such as
playing well and sticking to your schedule and strategy). Similarly, I
find that checking the leader board just puts more pressure on myself
rather than adding motivation so I typically think it's a good idea to
refrain from checking it regularly.<br />
<br />
Alright, thanks a lot for reading. Good luck in your next Micro Millions leaderboard run! <br />
The Micro Millions is back again starting on March 19th and once again, I've got your Main Event tickets! I'll be holding last longer competitions out of my facebook page for various events and the winner of each last longer will score themselves a free ticket to the $22 Main Event on March 29th.<br />
<br />
Details of the last longer contests are as follows:<br />
<ul>
<li><b>There will be 5 last longer events spread out over the series. </b></li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li><b>Registration for each last longer will take place on my facebook page: <a href="https://www.facebook.com/frosty012" target="_blank"><u>FACEBOOK</u></a></b> </li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li><b>Registration for each last longer will open approximately 1 day prior to the event </b></li>

</ul>
<ul>
<li><b>The winner of each last longer will win a $22 Main Event ticket!</b></li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li><b>*If I win any of the last longers, I'll run a free tournament from my Home Games and use the ticket(s) as a prize* </b></li>
</ul>
That's all there is to it! This promo has been a lot of fun in the past so especially if you're going to be playing a bunch of Micro Millions events anyways, join in for the chance at a free Main Event ticket and some extra motivation to make a deep run in the tourney.<br />
<br />
I'm always excited to play the Micro Millions series and to try and make a run at the leaderboard. The prizes for doing well on the leaderboard are as follows:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWnjo_UGFyLqFa10sGtqJFhlS39SIW8jMssWca5t-p0kL1ndJ8MDrLYLcSGvnttKlWnVrRc9zAXKzBVNEU5c32fGPbt8GEUQ41GAAWeEy6CCJuoACeme-kaquonX-vuTN-lgOCO-ofGYg/s1600/MMLB.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWnjo_UGFyLqFa10sGtqJFhlS39SIW8jMssWca5t-p0kL1ndJ8MDrLYLcSGvnttKlWnVrRc9zAXKzBVNEU5c32fGPbt8GEUQ41GAAWeEy6CCJuoACeme-kaquonX-vuTN-lgOCO-ofGYg/s1600/MMLB.png" height="52" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I ended up falling just outside of the top 100 at the end of the last series so hopefully I can improve on that this time around and have something tangible to show for my sacrifice of sleep :)<br />
<br />
I'm personally extra excited for the series this time around though because with my twitch channel up and running, I'm going to be streaming the series around the clock and have daily updates on how the leaderboard adventure is going. Come on out and sweat me in the MTTs and maybe I can make a deep run or two and navigate my way through these massive fields!<br />
<br />

I know that I'm a bit late but my life has been super busy from about December 20th until now. At first, it was all about holiday preparation and spending Christmas with the family. Immediately following that (like, the next day), I was off to Maui with my girlfriend and the family as well for about 10 days. My gf and I had our own place for most of the trip but you know me, wanting to save a few bucks we ended up sharing my parents place for a few days (it all worked out).<br />
<br />
After Maui, the vacation was over and it was off to the Bahamas for the PCA and some serious poker business. Alright, it was basically just another vacation. The "business," if you can call it that, included one full day for the annual Team Online meeting and another hour on a later day for the HU4ROLLZ promo that the team was running (you could play TO members on an ipad and win cash). Both the meeting and promo went pretty well with the meeting being full
of great presentations and me not losing more than 2 HU matches in a row
during the promo.<br />

<br />
The rest of the trip was filled with socializing and hanging out with the team. I'm sure most of you have seen all of the pics that I've been posting on social media so I won't bother reposting it all but I think you get the gist pretty quickly that it was a good time!<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Shifting gears now, what I wanted to do with the rest of the blog post was talk briefly about how 2014 went and then get into my plans for 2015.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
So last year was fine at the tables...I ended up playing a bit more than a quarter of SNE volume and took home roughly a bit less than 65K in profit. At the start of the year, my original plan was to try and reach SNE but it didn't take long for me to see that it wasn't going to happen at my normal stakes. I tried moving up stakes and was actually successful doing so...the only problem was that my vpp/hour rate wasn't much better than it was playing 100nl, if at all (due to not being able to play as many tables). I spent one month trying my hand at PLO but let's just say the year probably would have been a lot more profitable if I hadn't ;) After that, I decided to shift my focus away from primarily being on volume and more towards winrate. Last year was the first year that I really made an effort to think deeper about poker and improve my game. I'm proud of all the work that I put into my game last year and think that I saw decent immediate results. I ended up falling well short of my impromptu profit goal of $100,000 but that was more of function of the goal being too unrealistic to start with due to a severe overestimation of what my volume would be :|</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Looking ahead to 2015, I'm feeling very excited and motivated to get to work! It's a bit unfortunate that by the time I'm back home and recovered from my early-year vacations the month's already half over but hey, last year it was much more difficult to get started on the right foot (literally, I broke my ankle and took 5 months to recover). The initial theme for this year will be to concentrate on quality over quantity, something that isn't usually apart of my year long plans. After last year, however, I really think the route with the highest profit ceiling is to try to keep improving and play higher stakes. Here are my goals for 2015, with a bit more detail about each:</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
1. <b>Earn $100,000</b>. I really want to get back over that 6-figure mark this year! Calling this a "goal" is probably inaccurate though...more like expectations and what I would be satisfied with by years end. I've said it before and I think that setting profit goals in general is pretty dumb because you can only control your results to a certain extent. Furthermore, for this year in particular, my end results could be all over the map depending on what stakes I end up playing the majority of my volume at. I think that goals that focus on elements that are within your control (ie. x amount of hours per day, x hands/day, x hours studying etc.) are really where you want to direct your focus and energy. That said, of course I will be implementing those micro-goals into my plan and this $100k number is mostly just to keep motivation up and have something for everyone to follow on the blog homepage!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
2. <b>Buy an income property</b>. So I've mentioned before that I want to use poker as a way to build wealth for myself and although I'm no real estate expert by any means, the principle of investing in property is simple enough. I have to work out the details but I'm hoping that by the end of the first quarter I should have enough for a down payment on a property that would be self-sufficient with a renter.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
3. <b>Buy a new car!</b> I've taken a lot of heat over the years from friends and family for still driving the same old car since my early days of university. I have no problem driving around in a, let's say "humble" old car as long as it works...the problem is that Old Betsy's becoming a bit unreliable these days. This is probably something that I'll look into in the latter part of the year, unless I'm forced into speeding up the agenda due to more mechanical problems :/ I'm really liking the new Jeep Wrangler though so it may be time for an upgrade.</div>
<br />
<br />
That's pretty much it for the monetary side of things. I didn't list any social media goals but I do plan on continuing to be heavily involved in that aspect of things as well. I'll also be continuing to coach once a month for PSO. I have an interest in getting involved with twitch too and still want to make YouTube content throughout the year. It's a lot to try and balance so we'll see how things develop over the next few months and see where I want to prioritize my time. I also have some fitness goals that I won't bore you with that involve putting on some weight and strength. <br />
<br />
So with all that said, the plan will be to get to work and see if I can move up stakes aggressively and feel things out. I might reach the same conclusion as before, where I could find it to be more profitable just mass-multitabling my normal stakes. I'm confident that I could reach my monetary goals at those levels anyways though, so let's see what happens! Let me know your plans and goals for 2015 :)<br />

November ended up being a short month for me at the cash game tables due to a good chunk of time being devoted to the Micro Millions. I was happy with my play in both the MTT and cash game department for the most part but ultimately ended the month with a relatively small profit.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQyEf9qRhIxfVOe9cqrYsepK7AJuNAN0JBMNYJ7WcpcMCk0rIbOJL4rzDGz_rHKsd3IOOKtB2YvmzZR_lgNxdkdH0Q0N5UCsxaDXcTVNsOdkwsPnrauIy0qqIlYGiZkpkhEpwK1CKO3Ic/s1600/MM+final+results.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQyEf9qRhIxfVOe9cqrYsepK7AJuNAN0JBMNYJ7WcpcMCk0rIbOJL4rzDGz_rHKsd3IOOKtB2YvmzZR_lgNxdkdH0Q0N5UCsxaDXcTVNsOdkwsPnrauIy0qqIlYGiZkpkhEpwK1CKO3Ic/s1600/MM+final+results.jpg" height="162" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
My Micro Millions leader board run ended painfully short of the top 100. Missing out on a Sunday Million ticket isn't really a big deal for me though, I was really aiming for a top 10 or bust finish so I'm not too heartbroken over finishing 110. Like I said, I think my play was pretty solid throughout the series and had I been able to play all of the events and caught a few breaks in some of the tourneys, I think a top 10 finish would be in the realm of possibility. Hopefully I can build on this run in the next series if I choose to participate in it again. Promo-wise, my last longer contests were a success again and I gave away 5 tickets to the Micro Millions Main Event. My social media numbers are up across the board and people seemed to enjoy the contest so thanks for that!<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
<br />
I was hoping my cash game winnings would have trended up over $2k but variance had other plans. I ended up running pretty ugly to close out the month (well, not in terms of EV!) and finished up around 8 buy-ins. All in all, the low volume at the cash game tables has resulted in a meager monthly profit of about <b>$2,400</b>. It might be time to graduate from the micros ;)<br />
<br />
Looking ahead to the end of the year, December seems like it will have to be a high volume month for me. I'm sitting on about 250k VPPs and will not settle for missing the 300k milestone bonus! Last year, I ended things on a sour note by missing the 200k bonus due to "having to go on vacation" by a certain date. This year, again I have a vacation planned near the end of the month so I'll have to make sure that I plan my days out properly. I'll be looking to up the hours mostly at 100nl and plan on including more mid-stakes tables in my game selection if things are going decently well. Hopefully I can close out the year on a profitable note and roll over some momentum to 2015. I'll be aiming for nothing less than 6-figures next year.<br />
<br />
How's everyone else's year shaping up? Gl with your end of year goals!<br />

I got the initial start date of the series wrong though ended up missing most of the tournaments on day 1. Also, I wasn't really mentally ready for the 11 day grind or even prepared in terms of having groceries or a cleared schedule. I quickly got things sorted out though and have been playing around the clock ever since.<br />
<br />
Trying to do well on the overall leaderboard is a serious grind-both mentally and physically. I've been super impressed with myself in terms of my mental game this time around...I've been very patient and have played quite well by my own standards. When I've done this challenge in the past, I found myself making a lot of questionable plays just looking for a quick double up or sleep but this go-around has been much better in terms of not punting off stacks. The physical part of the challenge is still incredibly difficult though because you just get so tired that it gets to the point where you can either ignore your alarm or it just becomes easy to brush off events(for example I'll wake up and go to register on my phone and if it's a format that isn't mobile app compatible, I won't bother getting out of bed and will just skip it).<br />
<br />
Anyways, at this point a top 10 finish is completely unrealistic but I'm hoping to finish inside the top 100 and not walk away empty-handed, so to speak. I've racked up quite a few cashes but missing more events than I cared to miss, combined with some unfortunate runbad in important spots has left me sitting just outside the top 100 at the moment. Still, I'd like to see some kind of rewards for my efforts and hey, a $215 ticket ain't too bad!:<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjui8A-YVgytYfMdhq5qhyphenhyphen_Pn0Gf5TA7-CB_fjAj1OMkZE_joDt-WqQKFAVvLYd3vBRaH0xY6dZzDTMELgz_oIRevlQxdyLiNYgiO7eCiy3KlwXg8fdZKeNFzfSp0DmCSwFjMH9zNsZ6Uo/s1600/MM+leaderboard.png" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjui8A-YVgytYfMdhq5qhyphenhyphen_Pn0Gf5TA7-CB_fjAj1OMkZE_joDt-WqQKFAVvLYd3vBRaH0xY6dZzDTMELgz_oIRevlQxdyLiNYgiO7eCiy3KlwXg8fdZKeNFzfSp0DmCSwFjMH9zNsZ6Uo/s320/MM+leaderboard.png" /></a><br />
<br />
I actually just wrapped up Event 071, where I made a pretty deep run and banked another 15 leaderboard points so I should actually be inside the top 100 at the moment. The bustout in this one was pretty unfortunate for me, as I got AA cracked by 33 all-in pre for more than double the average stack with 185 left! Pretty much a beat of 10+ leaderboard points and potentially a lot of money. Stuff like that really makes or brakes a leaderboard quest but that's obv the nature of MTTs so I don't let it bother me too much.<br />
<br />
I've been running my last longer promotion out of my facebook page and it's been going well. The final last longer will be tomorrow and then I'll be doing the draw for the 5 Main Event ticket winners after it wraps up. Be sure to check it out if you want in on the action...<br />
<br />
Unfortunately, I've been finding it much more difficult than expected to play cash games alongside the MM. The combination of being super tired and needing a nap as soon as I bust the MTT plus not being able to easily start/stop a cash game session has resulted in almost exclusively MTT play. Now that I've lowered the bar from top 10 to top 100, I might be able to skip the night events and play both during the day.
Anyways, that's all for now.<br />
<br />
Gl to all those that are also grinding it out during the MM, I've had several chats and twitter interactions with a lot of followers so keep it up.<br />

<br />
The Micro Millions is back and once again, I'm going to be playing a ton of events to try and do well on the overall leader board. The plan is to play cash games on the side and hopefully end up logging a lot of hours at both the cash and MTT tables. Anyways, enough about me...here's what you need to know if you're looking to bank a free ticket to the Micro Millions Main Event:<br />
<br />
What I'm going to be doing for the series is bring back my popular Last Longer contest but with a bit of a twist this time. In the past, I've held a last longer for a specific event and simply whoever lasted the longest in the tournament out of all of the entrants would win the Main Event ticket. This time, it's going to be more about outlasting <b>ME</b>. <br />
<br />
The contest will work in the following way: I will hold 5 different last longers events (max 1 per day spread out over the series but no set events/dates yet) and after all of the events have finished there will be a draw for<b> 5 Main Event tickets</b>. To get your name in for the draw, all you have to do is <b>OUTLAST ME</b> in any of the last longers. If you enter more than 1 last longer and outlast me in multiple events, you can earn more entries into the draw...so for example, if you end up entering all 5 of my last longers and outlast me in all 5, you'll get 5 entries into the draw for the ME tickets. Sound simple enough? Good. All of the last longers will be ran out of my <a href="https://www.facebook.com/frosty012" target="_blank"><b>facebook page</b></a> and the way it will work in practice is that I will announce the last longer event ahead of time, everyone will sign up with their Stars ID in the comments and then I will make a new status update to begin the contest. It will be on <b>YOU</b> to leave a comment with your place of finish in this new status update. I'll scroll through the comments after I bust the tournament and record all of the screen names that finished better than I did and they will be entered into the draw.<br />
<br />
Hopefully this will be a lot of fun and motivating for everyone...might I remind you that last year one last longer winner went on to make a super deep run in the Main Event and cashed for around $4,000! The bar is set pretty high but maybe another winner will make a deep run again this year...<br />

The month went by super fast for me and was action packed due to Thanksgiving, my birthday, Team Pro Online week, YouTube video making (check out my channel for multiple HOTW vids as well as a strat video ft. Nanonoko), PSO coaching, as well as the usual off-table activities that are on my schedule. It ended up being a pretty low volume month at the tables for me...not exactly what I was intending or hoping for but all things considered I'm pleased with my effort. I also spent a ton of hours away from the tables working to improve my game and especially in that department, I'm very pleased with the progress that I made in October.<br />
<br />
As far as improving my game goes, I'm mainly just trying to miss less spots that come up regularly-something that can be easy to do when you're playing a lot of tables. Also, I'm more focused on trying to determine the best play for my overall range in a given spot rather than just playing each hand in a vacuum-unless I'm up against a weaker or obviously exploitable player. All in all, I still want to keep getting better and I think it's important even for winning players to keep your mind sharp by trying to continually improve your game.<br />
<br />
Alright, here's the breakdown for October:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh86ehyphenhyphensnqtY4m4Zw1rAWlzlXVljS8eCJ6ayf4gc2ldZhat09L43KlLKv7BQBRgClPQUdeG-XvgLTtVUx9TmzmJUwTFH-l3WLfxWFkHqUV-5kPib2LmAIvMreQr2-t0C5MbmqPIwLhXQyw/s1600/oct+2014+results+graph.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh86ehyphenhyphensnqtY4m4Zw1rAWlzlXVljS8eCJ6ayf4gc2ldZhat09L43KlLKv7BQBRgClPQUdeG-XvgLTtVUx9TmzmJUwTFH-l3WLfxWFkHqUV-5kPib2LmAIvMreQr2-t0C5MbmqPIwLhXQyw/s1600/oct+2014+results+graph.png" height="145" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYLqYvdf-D-G21s5l0uLFaiQ9ov-xMjxF3hNaSj1RZt1sJ2YU4jyUuD40Wz20BYiACvIahrmXPB99klkgwiyqei8gbiJUxc4hLBEHB666ZOXRYlyQGRB_kRHxy86o9EZGwe3Fk9O0YLio/s1600/oct+results+by+stakes.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYLqYvdf-D-G21s5l0uLFaiQ9ov-xMjxF3hNaSj1RZt1sJ2YU4jyUuD40Wz20BYiACvIahrmXPB99klkgwiyqei8gbiJUxc4hLBEHB666ZOXRYlyQGRB_kRHxy86o9EZGwe3Fk9O0YLio/s1600/oct+results+by+stakes.jpg" height="133" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
I ended up running pretty well (obviously well in terms of EV, although I could post a dozen hands where I was set under set etc.) so I'll take that, especially over a small sample size. You'll notice most of my volume was just at 100nl in October, where I posted what I would say is a largely unsustainable winrate of 5.64 bb/100.<br />
<br />
<b>October:</b><br />
<br />
<i>1,894 table winnings</i><br />
<i>439 FPP value</i><br />
----------------------------<br />
<br />
<b>$2,333 USD</b><br />
<br />
Add in a bit of salary/coaching and exchange and I banked around $3,300 CAD in October. Obviously that 100K goal is looking pretty far off at this point lol but I'm going to try and get as close as I can by the end of the year!<br />
<br />
I'm expecting November to be a relatively high volume month for me as I'm determined to log more hours at the tables and my schedule is crystal clear, unlike October. The Micro Millions is coming up and once again I'm going to try and make a run for the top of the leaderboard...I always enjoy the challenge and even though it can be very gruelling after a few days, I still find it fun. Also, I will be doing some more last longer promotions for my followers (with a bit of a twist this time) so stay tuned for that! I can tell you that there will be more MM Main Event tickets up for grabs and might I remind you that one of my ticket winners last time cashed in the ME for around $4k lol. As mentioned, details coming soon...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I suited up (or suited down?) as Clark Kent last night for Halloween and headed downtown with my girlfriend and friends to celebrate Halloween. I hadn't been out to a club for the longest time and honestly, I really don't feel like I'm missing much. I'm not sure how single frosty used to put up with the crowds, the lines, the noise but I guess he was more of a campus bar type guy anyways. Nonetheless, I'm a big fan of costume parties no matter where they're at and managed to have a good time throwing some shapes and then knocked back a few after seeing Wonder Woman cheating on me with Spiderman on the dance floor. My actual gf was dressed as a boxer and at one point in the night she ran into some dude that was also dressed as a boxer and a mock fight broke out. People went crazy for it and started pulling out their phones to film it...I'm not really sure why everyone was so excited but they were. She was also forced to fist-pump everyone that made eye contact with her as they went by-I guess that's the price you pay when you have sweet boxing gloves as part of your costume. <br />
<br />
Alright, that's all for now...enjoy the rest of the weekend and I'll catch some of you guys/gals in the Team Online Freeroll tomorrow.<br />

I was told to play my A game and ended up crushing pretty hard, to the tune of 251 bb/100 lol! It wasn't due to any sick play, however, as players were highly incentivize to pile a lot of money into the pot and cash in on the 7x multiplier that they would get for showing a profit off of me. Despite what the graph may describe, a lot of people did end up winning some nice pots against me-including the top winner banking almost $70 in bonuses plus the pot.<br />

Anyways, what I've decided to do is give back all of my winnings won during Zoom hour to all of my followers! I've set up a Home Game Poker Club and created a play money tournament for everyone to join. The ID and PW is:<br />

<u><b>PW: freedollars</b></u><br />
<br />
It will be today at 18:00 EST. If you open the tournament lobby, you'll see the payouts written down in the notes. Since there's not a ton of cash to spread around, I'll just be paying the Final Table. I'll be accepting members up until 16:50 and don't panic if you aren't accepted right away, I'll be checking throughout the day.<br />
<br />
I'm also coaching the Sunday Special today for PokerSchoolOnline at 16:00 EST today. I'll be doing a hand review of <span class="userContent">some of the biggest pots that I've played in October...you can register for free here:</span><br />

<br />
Hey everyone! So I'm sure that by now you've heard about the twitter contests being held by all Team Pro Online members (we're also going by Team Pro Online now, instead of Team Online or Team Online Pro or whatever else you've been calling us ;) ) so I wanted to give you all the details about my contest, which will run from October 20th-24th.<br />
<br />
First of all, for those of you that are still unaware, the prize for each twitter contest is one entry into a special 22-man tournament where the top 2 finishers will have a chance to take part in the Team Pro Online heads-up challenges on October 27, and play for a a free PCA package. Even if you don't finish in the top 2 though, you're still guaranteed $50! Not bad if you're just starting out building a bankroll at the micros.<br />
<br />
<b>Now, to the details of my twitter contest. I'm keeping things very simple, as you only need to retweet the following tweet to be automatically entered into a draw that I will hold on October 25th! The winner will be chosen at random and announced via my twitter account, which can be found as <i>@frosty012</i>:</b><br />
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en">
Want to win a <a href="https://twitter.com/PokerStars">@PokerStars</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/PCA?src=hash">#PCA</a> package? Simply RT to enter a draw for a special <a href="https://twitter.com/PSTeamOnline">@PSTeamOnline</a> satellite! Details here:<a href="http://t.co/JTvfa08gfV">http://t.co/JTvfa08gfV</a><br />
— Tyler Frost (@frosty012) <a href="https://twitter.com/frosty012/status/524305619029725185">October 20, 2014</a></blockquote>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js"></script>
I figure that this will be a nice way to cause a buzz for the Team Pro Online week promotion and allow everyone an equal opportunity to win entry into the special satellite! <span class="userContent"><span class="text_exposed_show">Have fun
during the week-take advantage of all of the cool promos being offered

So you've decided that you want to give playing
poker professionally a shot. Ok, now what? Before you stick it to the
man and quit your day job there's a lot to consider...even though
there's only so much you can control at the tables, you still need a
solid plan in place to succeed. I want to offer my advice on how to make
the transition from whatever you're currently doing to playing poker
full-time. I'll draw upon my own experiences of how it all started and
share how I've been able to make a living playing cards going on five
years now...<br />
<br />
<b>1. Build up an adequate bankroll and do it by playing part-time.</b>
I know you are probably feeling hasty and eager to start playing poker
full-time but building up a bankroll on the side of your regular job or
studies can do a few great things to improve your success rate when
turning pro. First and most importantly, you'll have some kind of idea
about what to expect when you turn pro. You still won't know exactly how
your results will turn out but you will have a fairly good idea of how
you'll perform at the tables. You'll also gain the confidence to succeed
knowing that you've been able to beat the limits that you want to play
at a higher volume up to this point in time. Finally, it's fairly
obvious but by starting out your career with an adequate bankroll (think
100 buy-ins for cash games), you're giving yourself a much better
chance of surviving any negative variance that may come your way.
Instead of just throwing a few thousand dollars online and not really
knowing what you're getting yourself into, take the time to grow a
bankroll after work or school and sharpen your skills along the way.
Remember that there's no quick, easy way to be successful at poker in
the long-term and it's going to take a lot of work so be patient.<br />
<br />
I
started playing cash games at the micro-stakes in the later years of my
time at university and it really doesn't take that long to move up
limits and be bankrolled for the games that you eventually want to play.
I think that it only took a few months before I had moved up to 100nl,
had my bankroll locked and loaded and was confident that I could beat
the games with some consistency.<br />
<br />
<span class="mt-enclosure mt-enclosure-image" style="display: inline;"><img alt="tyler_frost_portrait_psblog.jpg" class="mt-image-center" src="http://www.pokerstarsblog.com/tyler_frost_portrait_psblog.jpg" height="300" style="display: block; margin: 0 auto 20px; text-align: center;" width="450" /></span><b>2. Plan for the worst case scenario.</b>
This has got to be my most important piece of advice because although
you want to be full of enthusiasm and optimism, especially at the start
of your career, you also need to be realistic and understand that no
matter how skilled of player you are you're not bigger than the variance
that comes along with the game in the short term. Even if you're
adequately bankrolled for the limits that you want to play, you've never
done this full-time before and you don't know how your results will be
affected by numerous factors-including increased hours, tables, tilt,
real life emergencies etc. You just want to have a backup plan in place
and be honest enough with yourself that you consider the fact that
failing is a possible outcome. I don't mean to scare anyone away or
sound like I'm deterring them from turning pro...if anything planning
for the worst case scenario had a tremendously positive affect on the
start of my career. Once I had my backup plan in place, I was able to
play with nothing holding me back! I didn't let the daily swings get to
me as much and was really able to just go for it and if it didn't work
out, well then it didn't work out and I'd be just fine.<br />
<br />
To give
you a clear example of what I'm talking about, for me, I had steadily
built up a $10,000 bankroll while playing casually over my years at
university and during the summer before my last semester at school I
wanted to do a trial run of going pro. That bankroll was basically all
of my money at the time, as my bank accounts usually got pretty dry by
the end of the school year and I'd typically refill them over the summer
by working a random summer job. Needing about $5,000 to cover my school
expenses for my last semester, I decided that I'd give playing poker
full time a shot but if my bankroll ever dropped to $5k I'd stop right
there and quit, withdraw the money to use for school and re-evaluate
poker at a later time.<br />
<br />
<b>3. Treat poker like a day job and set goals. </b>Even
though poker can offer you tremendous freedom and flexibility, you're
not going to achieve financial success by playing a couple of hours a
day (well, depending on your stakes I guess ;)). You probably need to
plan on playing 4-8 hours a day at least to ensure that you're putting
up consistent results. I would recommend setting VPP targets every month
to keep you on track and take the emphasis off of results and back on
things that you can control-the hours that you put in. Starting out with
a year-long VPP target is a very good idea and that will let you know
how many VPPs you're going to need to average monthly/daily/hourly etc.
to hit the year-end number. Especially when you're just starting your
career, having a bunch of smaller goals to supplement your year-long
plan will be helpful to keep you on track and give you an idea of how
much you should be playing.<br />
<br />
When I started playing poker
full-time, I was all-in and fully invested. I was playing tons of hours
and hungry to succeed. Having an empty bank account will do that for
you. My social life still existed but was largely scaled back...I was
playing poker, thinking about poker and dreaming about poker at night. I
was probably playing too much, as there's always a point where your
play becomes much worse with increased volume but when you're that
focused on succeeding it will bother you to not be playing. If I could
go back and do it over again, I would just try to have more of an
organized playing schedule in place but my hours would still be heavy.<br />
<br />
Anyway,
if you have the passion for the game and want to give turning "pro" a
shot then hopefully you'll find my advice helpful and maybe I'll see you
at the tables in the near future. <br />
If you have any more questions, I'm always available on twitter (@frosty012), Facebook Tyler "frosty012" Frost), or right here on my blog.<br />

I didn't experience any big swings but unfortunately, I couldn't get much going in terms of catching a heater to get the ball rolling upwards. It felt a lot like last month, where I felt that I was running fairly poorly overall but still playing alright and making money due to winning enough "gifted" pots. I did manage to book a small profit from the WCOOP at least, after cashing in a $320 event early on in the series. All in all, I booked a small winning month but have a long way to go if I want to reach my $100K profit goal!<br />
<br />

<br />
There are a couple of positive things working in my favour to reach my $100K goal, despite booking a relatively small profit of around $3k in September. First, I was reviewing my monthly totals for the year and actually miscalculated my annual earnings thus far by $5k lol. Fortunately, it was a "good" mistake as I've actually earned $5k more than originally thought. Second, October has the potential to be a booming month with the chance of 5-figures worth of bonuses depending on my volume! Hopefully things pan out a bit better at the tables and I might have a slim shot after all. I have to adjust my volume target though...I think that 500K VPPs was unrealistic from the start and now it's going to take a lot of effort to make 400K but that will be the goal. To be clear, I'm not changing my profit target and the volume goal was never important in terms of having to reach it...it's just there to supplement THE goal of earning $100K. <br />
<br />
So my ice hockey season is off to a completely opposite start to last year, where we pretty much lost every game by 5+ goals. Now we're in a lower division and are lighting it up! 6-0, 39 GOALS FOR and 6 AGAINST lol. It's been a fun ride but we're getting bumped up a div after the next game. You would think that moving up a division wouldn't be that bad since on paper it looks like we're an unstoppable force and it might not be...but I think that we look a lot better on paper then we actually are. Like the games have been weird-they'd be close for 1 or 2 periods, even tied and then the flood gates would just open up and we'd score 5 goals in the third. Also, one game was a forfeit and 2 wins came against the same team so yeah, we're definitely the best team in the division but I'm not so sure it's as clear cut as it seems. Regardless, we should at least be in a bunch of close games in the new division and hopefully win our fair share. I've personally been playing pretty well...it was a rusty first couple of games but I've made an adjustment in my wrist shot and have since scored 8 goals in the last 3 games and I'm in the top 2 point leaders on the team. The change in my shot was just starting to get my top hand more involved in the shot by pulling backwards and really flexing the stick. The power increase has been pretty dramatic and it feels like I'm firing darts out there!<br />
<br />
October's going to be a pretty jammed packed month. On top of all the poker that I intent to play I've got the usual weekly hockey/workout stuff and then I've got my birthday, a couple of Thanksgiving dinners to attend and of course, Halloween. It should be busy but it should be a lot of fun too! The progress bar is updated and here's to hoping it moves a lot farther to the right when October's all said and done...<br />

As I mentioned in my brief intro in the video, the plan going forward for 2014 will be to release 2 HOTW vids and one special "Team Online Strategy Video," featuring a guest each month! I'll aim the get the TOSV posted around mid-month and flank those with the two HOTW videos on either side :)<br />
<br />
Monthly review, including results will be coming up shortly at the end of September. Till then,<br />

DaWarsawHey everyone, I just wanted to do a really quick post to share a recording that I made with DaWarsaw yesterday, in case you missed it on my other social media outlets. I want to keep these Team Online videos as a separate series from my "Hand of the Week" videos and plan on doing more of them over the rest of the year if you like them, so please let me know (all feedback appreciated).<br />
<br />
In this particular strategy clip, Greg and I talk in great detail about 2 recent 100nl 6-max hands that I played recently. As per the description:<br />
<br />
"Frosty and fellow PokerStars Team Online member Grzegorz "DaWarsaw" Mikielewicz engage in a lenghty discussion about 2 100nl 6-max cash game hands that were played by frosty earlier in the month.<br />
<br />
Hand 1: Topics include how to play against aggressive opponents 3-betting from the BTN vs. the CO, what hands to 4-bet and call with, the merits of fast-playing vs. bluff-catching, what HUD stats should be considered when making our decisions...among others.<br />
<br />
Hand 2 (34:48): Topics include the merits of 4-betting QQ from MP vs a specific villain on the BTN, flop/turn/river play OOP on the given run-out and also include relevant HUD stats to keep in mind."<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
Let me know how you feel about the duration and speed of everything, as I can shorten the videos in the future if people are losing focus, add more hands in the same length or even talk longer if that's what you'd all like to see. Here's a link to the first T.O. strat video ft. xflixx:<br />

As per usual, I could always benefit from a bit more volume but aside from that I've been running pretty cold across the board. I'm out almost 7 buy-ins in EV but the coolers have been more of an annoyance...when it's all said and done though, I'm still up a few buy-ins, feel like I'm playing pretty well and a heater could be right around the corner because the games have been good!<br />
<br />
I won't bore y'all with the bad beats or paste out all of what I consider to be "coolers" but here are a couple examples of what I'm talkin' about for the sake of showing some hands:<br />

This flop spot is kinda weird/annoying because without specific reads or history involving this exact pre-flop action it's very tough to know what kind of 4bet/calling range we're up against. I think as a general population read though, we're looking at something like AJ+/KQ+/JT+/99+/67s+...you know, stuff that doesn't want to shove and get called but has enough playability and strength to not fold. I'm not confident in that range being an accurate representation of the average 4bet/call range because I think it varies a ton from player to player...some might call all pocket pairs for example, while others will be super tight and even mix in some slow played KK/AA, as we see here. I do assume that most players are probably tighter rather than looser and the 4b/c range is going to be heavily weighted towards hands that do well against the button's 4bet bluffing range and will be less likely to include super value (so hands like AQ, or hands that have decent playability against Axs bluffs like KQs or JTs). With that in mind, I still think we can be pretty happy about bet-calling this flop since most opponents can probably show up with 99-QQ, pair + draw type hands or quite possibly be even weaker. Even now that I've seen this villain show up with slowplayed aces, it's hard to know if I'm always just beat by this flop c/r or if villain would play 99-QQ the same way...sample size seems to be too small to know.<br />

<span style="color: #;">Here we have a bit of a loose open from EP but the BTN was a 51/33 <span style="color: #;">weaker player so I <span style="color: #;">wanted to get involved in some pots <span style="color: #;">with them. I get an absolute dream <span style="color: #;">run-out and I strongly <span style="color: #;">consider going for a check-call on the river since our villain looks so draw<span style="color: #;">-<span style="color: #;">heavy but ultimately<span style="color: #;">y decide against it for 2 reasons<span style="color: #;">. Basically, I <span style="color: #;">given that all draws missed I think that villain is almost always calling with Tx or wider...also, <span style="color: #;">I have no idea what kind of bluff<span style="color: #;">ing frequency this player has. I wanted to go ahead and target <span style="color: #;">the villain's calling range rather than risk a check-back from a weaker made hand<span style="color: #;">, which would obviou<span style="color: #;">sly be <span style="color: #;">a disaster. <span style="color: #;">I think our hand is a decent one to shove too since we don't block any potential pairs that our villain could have...if w<span style="color: #;">e had a hand like JT, I might be more <span style="color: #;">interested in bluff-catching since now the villains range would probably be more draw-heavy<span style="color: #;">. Anyways, I decided to shove and to start planning what to do with my new found $100. Bad <span style="color: #;">idea.</span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span><br />

<br />
August turned out to be a nice bounce back month from July. Since my last update, I managed to catch a heater that ended up lasting for only a single day but it was indeed a great day. The heat came on this past Saturday to the tune of 14 buy-ins at 100nl over almost 8,000 hands that I played straight without stoppage.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-kO1ngglwml4/VAVcItoJh4I/AAAAAAAABEY/FMSmC2ieaaM/s1600/Aug%2B2014%2Bgood%2Bsession.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-kO1ngglwml4/VAVcItoJh4I/AAAAAAAABEY/FMSmC2ieaaM/s1600/Aug%2B2014%2Bgood%2Bsession.jpg" height="117" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Unfortunately, those positive variance days were almost non-existent throughout August and I was battling through some runbad for most of the month. Nevertheless, all things considered I'm happy with my play, effort and overall bottom line when it's all said and done. The numbers keep me behind pace for my $100k goal by the end of the year but with increased volume and milestone bonuses on the horizon, I don't need to be earning equal amounts every month to ultimately make it.<br />
<br />
Unintentionally, I ended up playing 100% of my volume at 100nl in August. I wasn't trying to be a 100nl hero but it just sort of worked out that way due to a combination of me wanting to hammer out some consistent winnings and not sit around waiting to get enough mid-stakes tables up and running. Through a mixture of full-ring and 6-max I was able to get 20+ tables up in a hurry and grind with relative confidence. <br />

After adding in a bit of salary and coaching and a favourable exchange rate, I ended up clearing close to <b>$6.2K</b> CAD in August to add to my annual total...bringing that up to just over <b>$46K</b>.<br />

<b>Biggest pot won</b>: Not much to say, I decided to just shove rather than 4bet small since I thought that at least 1 villain would probably call (both fishy IIRC).<br />

Away from the tables, it's been handyman frosty around the apartment all month. The first order of business was installing blinds for all of my windows...I've lived here for over a year now and aside from the bedrooms, there have been no blinds anywhere. I have 11 windows and am surrounded by neighbouring apartment buildings-I can only image the things that they have seen over the past year :o. I originally took down the blinds that came with the place because they were dirty and ugly and I intended on replacing them soon. However, you know how it is, more "important" stuff kept coming up/I got lazy and kinda used to it and the next thing you know you're known as the guy without blinds at the building's summer BBQ. That all changed this month though because my girlfriend could get us a sweet deal from her work on some high quality blinds and in frosty fashion we managed to save a few coin by installing them ourselves. It was a pretty brutal 4-5 hour process of manually screwing in a lot of brackets but in the end it was mission accomplished. Here's the before and after pics:<br />
<br />

<br />
Not bad eh? You can see we did a bit of painting too. Other than the blinds, the most recent project was replacing my bedroom closet with a brand new one. That turned out to be a slightly smaller cause of frustration and the biggest challenge was sawing the ends off of 2 metal bars to make them fit in the closet space...not a fun activity when you only have a small hack saw lying around and I wouldn't recommend it :/. Here's how the closet looks before and after though!<br />

<br />
There was basically not much on the left side (my side) before, just a coat rack and some cramped shelf space above it. On the right side (her side), the space was all organized in a messy and frustrating way. Afterwards, we now have some shelves for towels/hats/belts/shoes/etc. and plenty of room to and all of our shirts/pants in an organized fashion. Yes, this is exciting...<br />
<br />
I expect September to be a very busy month for me both on and off the tables. Aside from the continuous apartment renos, I'm also starting up my ice hockey league again this week and my fantasy football season. Combined with the usual crossfit training and weekend commitments, there will be little time to waste if I want to be as productive as I'd like to be at the tables this month. I'll be aiming for 50k-60k VPPs, so we'll see what's in store for me in September! Stay tuned for updates,<br />

<br />
So things have been a bit stagnant at the tables this month. As you can see from the graph, I've been mildly swinging back and forth pretty much since day 2-3 and the end result has been a break-even stretch for the month, after the initial early profit. I'm out a bunch in EV and feel pretty good about the way that I've been playing so hopefully some positive variance is right around the corner!<br />
<br />
Here's a cool hand that I won though. Given the positions pre-flop, I decided to flat rather than 4-bet and make pretty much everything but AA fold since this is nit-ring. I think that raising the flop here is obviously fine but I don't think that I'd ever have many bluffs here so I decide to call and rep the weaker part of my range...if the board was 2-tone or if I had some kind of read that the villain would never fold a hand like Kx then I'd probably make an exploitable raise anyways. I think that the turn card is really bad for me after the villain bets again...they can credibly have all combos of AQ and the SB can even have it too I think when you consider their pre-flop calling range in that spot and price that they're getting on the flop (especially if it has a BDFD). I'm pretty much not folding any river anyways (unless the action went like SB shove and BB call, then maybe I'd consider it depending on the actual river card) but I think I lose action from some stuff by shoving and want to keep trying to rep a hand like AK or KQ and let villain dump in the rest for me on the next street. I also think that I'm coolering a set regardless too. Anyways, I get an absolute dream river and the rest of the hand just plays itself:<br />

I'm going to be playing a lot of hours over the next 5 days to try and bump up my volume a bit and close out the month with some solid effort. Between vacations, distractions and weekend commitments, August hasn't been as high-volume at the poker tables as I would have liked but with a relatively clear schedule for the rest of the year, there will be lots of poker to be played yet.<br />
<br />
Speaking of distractions, I'm entering 2 fantasy football leagues and my first draft was tonight. It's a 12-team league and I got the 12th pick...since it's a snake draft that's not necessarily a bad thing though and I actually much prefer it to a mid-round pick. Anyways, here's how my team shaped up:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-l5YnPzDOfAA/U_2DnG_vPcI/AAAAAAAABDk/ORltsG83EP0/s1600/fantasy%2B2014.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-l5YnPzDOfAA/U_2DnG_vPcI/AAAAAAAABDk/ORltsG83EP0/s1600/fantasy%2B2014.jpg" height="282" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I took Bryant and Marshall in the 1st/2nd round, which amounted to me being stacked at WR but pretty weak at RB. I was lucky to get Tate in essentially the 6th round to give me at least 1 starting RB but Jackson is pretty iffy considering Spiller's a big part of Buffalo's running game. I am excited about Cameron and Patterson and overall I'm pretty happy with my team so we'll see how things play out.<br />
<br />
I've been busy away from the tables this month as well. I've been keeping up with crossfit and have been going very frequently...I'm seeing huge improvements across the board and my time seems to be paying off with increased fitness and strength. I've been to a wedding, going-away party and my friend's birthday party all this month too. I also did the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge and donated as well:<br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="344" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/Tow5vUjc68M" width="459"></iframe>
<br />
<br />
And practiced my rap skills on my most recent road trip:<br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="270" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/6g0PBd7B81A" width="480"></iframe>
<br />
<br />
So yeah, things have been pretty busy and the month has been good. It would be nice to catch a bit of a heater to cap off August though and get me a bit closer to my $100K goal! End of month report coming soon,<br />
